Common questions
Can the inventory system track both consumable supplies and fixed assets?
Yes. The system supports separate tracking categories for consumables (lab reagents, stationery, cleaning supplies), borrowable equipment (cameras, laptops, sports gear), and fixed assets (furniture, machinery). Each category has its own tracking rules, consumables are depleted on use, borrowable items require check-out and check-in, and fixed assets are tracked for location and condition.
How are reorder alerts triggered?
Each stock item has a configurable reorder threshold. When the quantity drops to or below that threshold, an alert is automatically sent to the designated procurement contact via email or SMS. The alert includes the item name, current quantity, and reorder quantity. No manual monitoring is required.
