RFID School Systems

Cards are read from up to 12 metres at the gate, and the parent gets an SMS.

ROne's long-range RFID attendance system reads student ID cards contactlessly as they pass through the school gate, without requiring any deliberate action from the student. Cards in pockets or bags are detected up to 12 metres from the reader. The system logs the timestamp and sends a parent SMS within 30-90 seconds.

Built for Northeast India's infrastructure realities, the system stores up to 100,000 records locally when internet connectivity drops and syncs to the cloud automatically when it restores. IP65-rated enclosures protect the hardware during monsoon season. A 48-hour battery backup keeps the gate operational through power cuts.

Common questions

What happens to attendance data when the internet goes down?

The RFID system stores up to 100,000 attendance records locally on the device. When internet connectivity is unavailable (power cuts, ISP outages or a remote location), the gate continues to record entry and exit timestamps. All records sync automatically to the cloud and School ERP when connectivity restores. No data is lost.

Does the RFID system work during Assam's monsoon season?

Yes. The hardware enclosures are IP65-rated, which means they are fully protected against dust ingress and low-pressure water jets from any direction. The system has been tested and deployed at schools across Assam through multiple monsoon seasons without hardware failure due to weather.

Can students bypass RFID attendance by sharing cards?

No. Each RFID card is serialised with a unique identifier tied to a specific student record in the system. Card swaps are flagged automatically, if Card A (registered to Student A) records entry while Student A is already marked absent or present, an alert is generated. The system also integrates with AI facial attendance for dual-verification at gates.

How long does the battery backup last during a power cut?

The RFID gate system includes a 48-hour battery backup. For the typical power cut duration in Northeast India (2-8 hours), the system remains fully operational without interruption. Attendance is recorded, parent SMS alerts fire, and data is queued for cloud sync as usual.
