Portable College Biometrics
Built for college lecture halls, labs and practicals. The teacher starts a session on the device and passes it along the benches. Each student places a registered finger on the sensor and the device matches it in under a second. When the last student has scanned, the session closes and the attendance goes to the college ERP.
No student phones, no wall mounting, no wiring and no network needed during class. Records are stored on the device and uploaded when it next connects, so labs in far buildings and outdoor sessions work the same as the main block. A 48-hour battery covers a full day of lectures and an overnight power cut. A fingerprint cannot be lent to a friend, so the proxy “present” disappears.

Common questions
Should our college choose this or ROne Smart Attendance?
If students may use phones in class, ROne Smart Attendance is faster: students mark themselves in a fingerprint-locked app inside a 2.5 m zone, and the teacher only taps start. If phones are not allowed, or you want nothing on students' phones, choose this portable fingerprint device. Both stop proxy attendance and both send attendance to the college ERP.
Does the portable biometric device require WiFi during class?
No. The device is completely offline during the attendance session. Records are stored locally on the device and uploaded to the college ERP automatically when the device connects to WiFi, which can be done at the end of the day or when returning to the faculty room. Classes in remote buildings, labs, or outdoor locations work exactly the same as those with full connectivity.
How is proxy attendance prevented with the portable device?
Each student's fingerprint is registered once during onboarding and tied to their student record. During attendance, the device matches the live fingerprint scan against the registered template, there is no way to submit attendance on behalf of another student. Fingerprint templates cannot be shared, copied, or replicated.
How long does a 60-student class take with this device?
Under 60 seconds for a full class of 60 students. Each scan-and-match takes under 1 second. The device is passed student-to-student during class without interrupting the lecture significantly. For larger classes (80-100 students), two devices can be used simultaneously, cutting time proportionally.
What happens if a student's finger is wet or injured?
The sensor includes moisture compensation for wet fingers. For injuries or temporary inability to scan, the teacher can mark attendance manually on the device for that student, which is flagged as manual entry in the ERP report. Permanent injuries trigger a re-registration on the uninjured hand.
